Perimenopause and menopause

Perimenopause and menopause

Menopause usually occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55 and is the last menstrual period in a woman's life. It is the stage where menstruation does not occur for 12 months.

During menopause, a woman's ovaries gradually stop producing female hormones. She stops being fertile and enters a period where she can no longer get pregnant. First, there are changes in the menstrual cycle, which becomes irregular and eventually stops altogether.

Before full menopause, there is a phase known as perimenopause . Women who are going through perimenopause may experience symptoms similar to PMS rather than the classic symptoms of menopause – they are not to be confused. Perimenopause symptoms can persist for many years before full menopause is reached, usually in the early 40s. Symptoms such as anxiety, lower energy, and later vasomotor symptoms may begin. Vasomotor symptoms include “hot flashes” or “night sweats.” Women may experience rapid, fluctuating body temperature, palpitations, and a shift between feeling hot and cold.

Whatever experience a woman is going through, it is important to remember that it is not an illness, but a natural progression into another phase of a woman's life cycle.

Supporting your nutritional and emotional well-being during this process can provide the perfect environment for this ebb and flow to be perceived as a positive transition.

Try individual online consultations with women's health experts

As soon as you start to notice changes in your cycle, consult a professional. Perimenopause can last for some time, but it should not be confused with PMS symptoms. Only a professional will be able to identify what is happening in your body and how to support your symptoms. For example, a nutritionist can recommend specific hormone tests, either through your GP or privately.

A one-on-one consultation with our Femvie experts can be a great way to uncover the causes of your problems and finally achieve optimal health.

Although doctors do an irreplaceable job, due to full capacity, they only have a limited amount of time for each patient. In the allotted time, they may not be able to ask all the necessary questions about diet, psychological state, or lifestyle.

During the Femvie online consultation, we discuss everything in detail, which is why each one lasts approx. 90 min.+ and at times you will feel like you are the only one talking. In the office, there is no space for a doctor to go through all aspects of your lifestyle with you and recommend what you should focus on personally. However, our Femvie experts have the space to do this . After the consultation, you will not only receive general advice like through a photocopier, but written individual recommendations that will be in line with your current life.

Remember that you are not alone, Femvie experts are here to support you and help you understand your health and what needs to change.
