Who is behind Wild Nutrition?
Henrietta Norton BSc Dip NT - is a recognized nutrition expert.
The co-founder of Wild Nutrition is a leading nutritionist with over 17 years of experience in women’s health consulting and supplement formulation. Her two books, Your Pregnancy Nutrition Guide and Take Control of Your Endometriosis, are among the best-selling books in the field. She specializes in women’s health consulting. She previously worked for some of the largest supplement brands. However, she found that there were very few supplement brands she could continue to recommend with a clear conscience, which ultimately led her to start her own supplement brand with her husband Charlie. Henrieta is not only the founder of the brand, but she is also personally behind the formulation of every single Wild Nutrition product.
Lorna Driver-Davies, BA (Hons), HD, DHNP, CNHC, mNNA - Co-Founder, works as the Head of Nutrition. She is also a Certified Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist with over 10 years of experience. She combines elements of functional medicine with her extensive knowledge of plants in her work. She specializes in endocrine and gynecological nutrition.
Brand philosophy
In addition to caring for high product quality, the brand's philosophy also focuses on sustainability and minimizing unnecessary waste.
Wild Nutrition product packaging is made from recycled and biodegradable packaging. Wild Nutrition obtains the material for the production of this packaging from local suppliers. It also reduces the creation of unnecessary waste by introducing the “refill” option, where you can refill your dietary supplements into the original glass packaging from biodegradable, plastic-free bags.
Wild Nutrition therefore produces products that not only benefit our health, but also contribute to the healing of the entire planet. When selecting ingredients for their products, they ensure that the raw materials used are obtained ethically and are as local as possible. Wild Nutrition distances itself from the use of ingredients tested on animals and you will definitely not find any artificial colors, flavors or unnecessary fillers in their composition.
As proof that they are serious about the purity and quality of their products, Wild Nutrition has set a goal to become B Lab certified by the global non-profit organization by the end of 2020. To obtain this certification, it is not enough to just have quality products. The certification company also focuses on environmental behavior, employee and supplier relations, brand transparency, and many other aspects.
In addition to creating healthy products for us and our environment, Wild Nutrition goes one step further. They support Plastic Oceans UK, which aims to raise awareness about plastic pollution in our oceans, and Tree Sisters, which funds the planting of tropical trees in forests around the world, contributing to cleaner and better air quality. But they also support the local community in their area. As part of the coronavirus crisis, they have sent out immunity-boosting nutritional supplement packages to local police forces, firefighters and hospital staff. What’s more, all healthcare workers in the UK are guaranteed a 50% discount at Wild Nutrition.
Unique production process
“We don't make our supplements; we grow them.”
Wild Nutrition uses a unique patented Food-Grown® method to produce its supplements. Vitamins, minerals and other active ingredients are grown on a special paste made from the highest quality foods. No chemical solvents are used in the final processing and the entire process takes place at low temperatures so that the nutrients contained are not degraded.
What makes dietary supplements made this way better?
They are more recognizable to the body
Our body can have difficulty recognizing synthetic vitamins and minerals. It then absorbs and uses them more difficultly. Some synthetic dietary supplements can actually do more harm than good. This is not the case with 100% natural dietary supplements when taken in the right dosage. Wild Nutrition supplements do not contain any unnecessary preservatives, dyes, fillers or binders. They also do not contain aggressive doses of synthetic or isolated ingredients that are often found in traditional pressed powder tablets, which then simply pass through our bodies without any benefit.
They are better absorbed
Different sources contain different ratios of nutrients and also differ in how our body is able to obtain nutrients from each source. For example, a certain food may be very rich in iron, but our body cannot absorb and use it very well in that form, and paradoxically, a food that is poorer in iron may prove to be more effective. Wild Nutrition therefore carefully selects the foods from which the nutrients are derived, paying attention not only to their quality but also to their maximum usability for the body. It grows nutrients on food pastes, for example from citrus fruits, yellow peas or carrots. This creates substances that the body can easily recognize and literally enthusiastically accept.
How does the production process actually work?
Step 1: Selecting the best natural ingredients
It all starts with a careful and thoughtful selection of the highest quality natural foods in the freshest form possible. These include citrus fruits, carrots, nutritional yeast, yellow peas and lactobacilli. This entire selection process takes time , nothing can be rushed. Wild Nutrition prefers to spend several years formulating its products rather than rushing to produce them and sell them as quickly as possible. When selecting raw materials, it also prioritizes crops that come directly from their country of origin, which also has a significant impact on their quality.
Step 2: The production process itself
Using a special device, selected foods are ground into a fine paste. All parts of the ingredients are used, including the seeds, peels and rinds of citrus fruits. We usually do not consume these parts of fruits and vegetables, which is a shame, because they often contain the highest concentration of nutrients and active substances.
Step 3: Growing Nutrients
One essential nutrient, such as magnesium or vitamin C, is added to the food paste thus created. The entire mixture is then enriched with glycoproteins (a combination of carbohydrates and proteins), which help cells blend together and thus activate the growth of nutrients themselves.
Step 4: A pinch of science
The glycoprotein mixture acts as a kind of “taxi” - it transports the selected nutrient directly to the living and active cells of the food paste. The nutrient begins to connect with the cells of the food paste, grows and transforms until the two mixtures perfectly blend with each other and become compact at once.
Step 5: Finished product
Finally, the food paste is dried very gently using filtered air without chemical solvents and at low temperatures to preserve as many nutrients as possible. The paste is then filled into cellulose capsules of plant origin, which are very easily broken down in the body and the nutrients contained can therefore be absorbed effectively. The capsules do not contain any unnecessary binders or fillers. Each ingredient is individually tested before being filled into the capsules, and the finished product is also subject to strict controls by an independent testing program.
