How safe are Femvie organic cotton tampons?
A new study led by the University of California, Berkeley and published in the journal Environmental International evaluated levels of 16 metals in 30 tampons from 14 brands sold across the U.S. (79%) and Europe (21%). The study found measurable concentrations of heavy metals in the tampons, including lead, arsenic, and cadmium. It is important to emphasize that the test samples were found at very low concentrations. This could be explained by the use of extremely low detection limits (MDLs) in the testing, and as the researchers suggest, the metals detected could be present as a result of systemic environmental contamination. The US researchers also noted that further research is needed, as the test samples were very small and it...
